CAMPING ON SALE NOW FOR 2025!

Make the most of The Big Meeting at the official campsite hosted by Marras - the Friends of Durham Miners' Gala.

Now at a new site at the stunning Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens, a short distance from Durham City – with complimentary shuttle buses to and from the Gala!

Tickets are on sale now for Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July 2025.

Following development work at the previous official campsite, we have relocated to Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens. Ushaw is an arts, heritage and events venue, waiting for you to escape the everyday, stop the world for a while and be surprised. When you book camping, you will receive a code for a 25 percent discount for admission to Ushaw during your stay.

Each corner of Ushaw is a curiosity, waiting to wow. Immerse yourself in the gardens, be amazed by beautiful buildings and marvel at centuries of art, history and heritage. See below for more info and for a map.

Ushaw is a few miles west of Durham City. Supported by Northstar, we'll provide our campsite guests with free shuttle buses for the short journey to and from the Gala. The shuttle buses will run from Ushaw every 20 minutes between 8am and 10am, dropping off guests in Durham City centre for the Gala. Shuttle buses will then run every 20 minutes from 4pm until 7pm to get everyone back to the campsite at Ushaw. Ushaw is also on the service bus route, and a short taxi journey or a short drive for those wishing to make their own way there.

As with our previous site, camping at Ushaw will include free shower and toilet facilities, plus on site catering. The site will feature a communal area with a bar, catering and live entertainment exclusively for our guests only. Stewarding will be on site throughout the night to ensure a safe and secure stay.

The 139th Durham Miners' Gala takes place on Saturday 12 July 2025. Accommodation can be booked now for Friday 11 and/or Saturday 12 July 2025.

The campsite will open at noon on Friday 11, and closes at 3pm on Sunday 13 July. Camper vans and caravans, as well as tents, are welcome. Dogs on leads are also welcome. We also offer a limited number of electric hook ups on a first-come-first-served basis, which can be booked alongside camping tickets below.

There is also a 20 percent discount for members of the Marras. If you're a Marra, email [email protected] to receive your discount code and enter it when you book your tickets below.

If you haven't yet, become a Marra, support our great celebration and get an extra 20 percent off. Join today here. All funds raised from the campsite will go to help cover the costs of staging the Gala, an entirely free event.

Ushaw is one of Britain’s best places to see Gothic Revival, Georgian and Victorian architecture, much of the splendid design and craftsmanship on show at Ushaw is the work of Augustus Pugin (architect of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben), his sons and his grandsons.

The Main House and associated buildings are home to exhibitions, art and a world-renowned library. You can take a guided tour or wander freely through corridors, chapels and cloisters, experiencing unbroken peace and tranquility.
