The 138th Durham Miners Gala takes place on Saturday 13 July 2024. The Gala is the world's most inspiring display of trades union and community celebration. Please see here for Gala day information.

For more than a century, the Gala was paid for by the working miners of the Durham Coalfield. It is their gift to us all.
Today, it is funded by our Marras, who make contributions throughout the year. Without the Marras, the Gala could not happen.
‘Marra’ is a Durham miners’ term for a trusted friend or workmate who can be relied on in times of need. In the collieries, we depended on our Marras for our lives. Without the support of our Marras today, the Gala simply could not happen.
Please invest in the Gala by becoming a Marra. You will help ensure the Gala survives, and thrives, and is here to inspire generations to come.
We welcome one-off donations of any size to help fund the Durham Miners Gala.
But if you become a Marra by signing up for £2 a month/ £24 a year or more, you will receive a Marras card with your name on it and the official 2023 Gala brochure in the run up to this year's Gala. You'll also be entitled to a 20 per cent discount on official Durham Miners Gala camping.

OFFICIAL GALA CAMPSITE
Make the most of the Gala by booking to stay at our official campsite. We offer high-quality facilities and affordable accommodation just a short walk from the festivities.
The campsite is in a beautiful and quiet setting just a short walk from the festivities and includes free shower and toilet facilities, plus on site catering providing breakfasts. The site features a communal area with a bar, catering and live entertainment exclusively for our guests only. Stewarding will be on site throughout the night to ensure a safe and secure stay.
